Let’s move boldly forward, driven by an even greater belief in the power, strength, and potential of sports.
I want to use the Tokyo Marathon to reach and connect more people through the Sports Legacy Programs.

I’m M Takashi — what we call an “impressionist athlete comedian” in Japan. I am a Tokyo Marathon Sports Legacy Program Charity Ambassador! It is my hope that running and sports will help as many people as possible become even healthier, both mentally and physically, and will put smiles on their faces! Let’s pass the legacy of sports as though we were running in a baton relay race, from person to person, onto future generations!

The cancellations of numerous events have, I’m sure, been a tremendous disappointment to those who had planned to participate as runners, volunteers, and supporters cheering from the side-lines. Now, more than ever, I feel that running is the secret to being healthy, positive, and true to yourself. We can call on the power of sport no matter what happens! I want to continue to put across this message.

Running is a solitary activity, but it connects people. Being true to yourself brings us a sense of being together. I’ve been active in music journalism for 30 years, focusing on rock. I’ve produced major music festivals for 20 years, and work every day to create better platforms for new musical expression.
Living is running. Running is expressing yourself. Expressing yourself is rock. With that said, I’ve been living my life to the fullest. The Tokyo Marathon 2021 will be an all-new and unprecedented challenge, the crystallization of two years of dreams and hopes. Humanity is the heart of our world, so let’s demonstrate our strength as humans and make it a success!
